Environmental Law

The attorneys in our Environmental Law practice group assist clients in the regulatory and cost recovery aspects of the clean up of contaminated property.  Our attorneys work with clients to fashion a remedy under environmental laws that will be (i) cost-effective, (ii) meet regulatory requirements, and (iii) consistent with development plans. Our representation includes clients with small, relatively simple sites where the clean up is conducted under the Department of Ecology Voluntary Cleanup Program to large complex sites where the remedial investigation, feasibility study, and clean up are conducted under Department of Ecology agreed orders and, ultimately, a consent decree.

An important aspect of Environmental Law is cost recovery from former owners and operators of the site, which caused or contributed to the contamination, and insurance carriers that provided pre-1986 comprehensive commercial liability insurance policies.  Our attorneys are experienced in managing these cost recovery actions to maximize the return to our clients.

Finally, the attorneys in our Environmental Law practice group are experienced in representing clients in all aspects of compliance with various environmental permits, including Clean Water Act (NPDES) permit compliance.
